Tank car weathering Not wanting to risk ruining even one of my set of thirty Z scale SP tank cars, I purchased a green UP tank car with which to experiment. Since previous weathering experimenting with washes did not work all that well, felt I would weather this car using chalk. If all else failed I knew I could brush of the chalk and start over or abandon this project. Using chalk worked fairly well for me using the techniques found in articles and magazines. Z scale sizes pose special problems with chalk that is brushed on because most brushes are much bigger than the area to be weathered. I did find that sharp pencil chalk has potential.
