Center Beam Flat Car Construction This Z Scale opera window center beam flat car is a precision craftsman kit. This kit is supplied with laser cut plywood, decals, brass brake wheel and brass brake piping. This freight car has one side loaded and the other not loaded to show additional details. The loaded side has new, chemically treated crossties that are secured with the cars cable tie-downs. The load consists of three hundred twenty (320) individually cut and twice stained crossties, thirty two blocks made of scale lumber and twelve tie-down cables made of .006" diameter brass. The other side is empty and shows typical tie-downs in place for empty movement. Although the empty side is unloaded it has fifteen tie-down cables made of .006" diameter brass. This kit is made up of thirty-one parts and thirty-two decals. The total number of parts for this model is four hundred forty-two (442) parts.Detail This Z Scale model is a precision craftsman kit and is very detailed in its own right. Thirty-two (32) decals are applied to the model (some on the loaded side are covered up). Weathering is done with black, brown, red and white chalk. Note the rusting on the stiffener ribs on the unloaded side of the car. Also note the wheel weathering on the bottom and ends of the car.
